The GAT trigger enhancement system

There's been a lot of positive talk on the www.AR15.com forums on the GAT so for $39.95 plus $3.00 shipping I sent off for one.
The system has a crank that can be attached to either side of the portion that installs inside the tigger guard. Each rotation of the wheel presses the tigger four times. The parts seemed to be made out of a durable plastic material similar to many AR pistol grips.

The only tricky part of the installation is the fore and aft movement along the trigger guard to get positive engagement. The two silver hex screws on the bottom will mar your tigger guard. I wrapped mine with tape to protect it.
I found that the short throw activator bar used with the lip down worked best. The long throw activator is the black plastic part next to the hex wrench in the above picture.

The GAT in operation

Due to an unexpected injury on the job New Years eve it's going to be a bit before I test this thing out. Due to it's mounting location it can not be used on M1 Garands and the M-14/M1A - it interferes with the safety operation.
I am able to keep my hand on the AR's pistol grip as I operate the GAT's activator lever.
It can be argued what the functional purpose of having a GAT is - to me it's just a cheap legal way to have some fun trying to empty a 30 round magazine.
